When buying a used car the first thing you have to do is check all the essential parts and make sure everything is fine, and after buying a used car it's always advisable to have the car checked by a professional car shop especially one that specializes in transmission repair because you definitely don’t want your car stalling in the middle of nowhere.
Visual inspection:
Take a look at the engine bay, see if there are settlements of dust or any oil spills or leak signs in the engine compartment. Watch out for battery expiry and loose wires which are out of place.Tube/ belt inspection:
Make sure the rubber pipes running into the radiator, AC mechanism, etc. are flexible and not too rigid. If they are very hard it indicates the tubes haven’t been changed in a long time. Inspect drive belts to makes sure they aren’t worn out.
Oil inspection:
Use a dipstick to check the oil, if the oil is dark-colored it may be an indication of future engine trouble unless the oil is changed.
The transmission fluid should be light and quite clear if it’s discolored or has a burnet smell make sure you have the car checked for transmission trouble. In the case of brake fluid make sure they are within the safe zone.
